GNSS positioning will be backing up the future of IoT infrastructure, providing with geolocation services to all sorts of everyday use devices, vehicles, inter-connected bikes, smart houses and buildings, and other gadgets that will be part of the city of the future; the smart city.

IoT positioning


The new ultra-low-power consumption communication protocols such as NB-IoT (5G), SigFox and LoRa pave the way to ultra-low power positioning and simple sensors using our cloudGNSSRx solution, which was constricted by the standard communication protocols such as GPRS, 3G and 4G.

 

Urban mobility: Bike sharing


CloudGNSSRx gives a great solution for GPS battery consumption by calculating the position in the cloud, increasing up to 10x the battery duration and reducing the maintenance cost for battery replacement. On the other hand, the positioning accuracy is improved in urban areas thanks to the use of advanced positioning techniques (multifrequency and multiconstellation position calculation) that cannot be used now due to the sensor hardware and the battery constraints. Last but not least, thanks to the position certification at signal level, the position cannot be counterfeit.

Object tracking


CloudGNSSRx solves the problems that other trackers present, with the use of GPS and smaller, longer lasting batteries. On the one hand, it solves the issues bluetooth has when trying to track objects outside of users’ coverage areas/range, and on the other hand, it solves the battery lifespan/consumption problems with the design of a small sensor that has years lasting batteries, that are able to cover the tracked products’ lifespan.

Secure and trusted positioning


Our solution makes positioning calculations remotely, within a safe environment (the cloud, which has the capacity of detecting interferences and spoofing. Besides, it has the potential to use encrypted signals and authentication methods/mechanisms, which not only makes positioning calculations safe, but also authenticable.

Critical applications: e-call


Starting April 1st, 2018, every car sold in the EU must include an eCall system, which is an emergency system that is installed in every vehicle. Legal aspects applications: border control, registered delivery


CloudGNSSRx’s positioning authentication features a cloud-hosted, certified localization service that allows for avoidance of fake delivery services, or increasing border security through tracking of vehicles, containers or packed goods.

UAV certified measurements


Drone positioning lacks efficient signal authentication and protection to prevent jamming and spoofing attacks, that can pose a threat to flight safety and security. Through the use of CloudGNSSRx, both the data obtained, as well as the location of its extraction, can be certified.

Crowdsourcing


CloudGNSSRx has, also, the ability to get access to signal samples that come from a multitude of geographically distributed GNSS sensors. These signal samples can be processed in bulk to extract information of the Quality of Service (QoS) or to find sources of interference or spoofing, as well as providing service data on “position intelligence”.
